What is a Mudrun?

Our Roughneck Mud Run is a fun yet challenging obstacle run for participants of all ability levels. The main goal is get out and get muddy-what we call “Roughnecking”! ! After the finish, stick around for a post-race hoot with DJ, great food, beverages and take a ride on our mechanical roughneck bull!

Where is the Mud Run taking place?

At the Southern Cross Equestrian Centre, located at 60 Peavinery Rd in Burford Ontario. Experience real Burford Bog Mud for yourself!

Can I get a discount for entering a large team?

Yes! Team packages can be purchased for a flat rate of $650 for ten participants and $900 for 15 participants. This is a fun and affordable team building exercise for your group or business. Will there be an Elite (timed) heat?

Yes you can register for the Elite Heat, which starts at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Elite participants will have a timing chip and get to run the course twice. There is a $20 additional charge for Elite signups. Only the Elite 8:30 a.m. heat is timed and competitive. Cheaters as deemed by obstacle Mud Squad officials will be eliminated from the competitive division.The 2017 Sunrise Roughneck Mud Run Trophy spot and place medals awaits the five fastest Roughneckers!

How much does it cost to participate?

Pricing starts at $60 in December 2017 and increases by $5 every calendar month until the last price of $95 effective June 1, 2018. We offer a 3-pack (3 runners) registration package for $180 until March 31, 2018, increasing to $225 after April 1st. Since we are a charity mud run we don’t charge HST but there is a $5 admin and insurance fee for each registration.

What is the value of getting pledges for my race?

You will be supporting the Alzheimer’s Association as ALL pledged proceeds will be used for Alzheimer research and supporting families effected by this disease. For further details check out the pledge page.

Can I register by mail or phone?

No. You must register for all events online.

What is the deadline for registration?

Online registration is available until June 5th, 2018.
On-site registration will be available only on Mud Run day.

What is the suggested attire?

There are no requirements for attire. Come as your favourite superhero, stagehand, or sports star. You can wear anything you want. Tennis shoes? shorts? Cowboy hats? You own the day! Take your time and have fun all along the way and maybe you will qualify for Best Costumed Runner!

What is included in the entry fee?

In addition to Roughnecking your way through our course, you also get an official  Roughneck Dog Tag and Beverage wristband entitling you to a free beer. Proof of age of majority is required to obtain the beer wristband!   You also get free pictures which will be available online after the race through FB and electronic sites, to be advertised.

Do I have to sign a waiver to participate?

Yes. During the online registration process you will be asked to review the waiver. You then print and bring your signed waiver to the event.  If you are under 18 the waiver must be signed by your parent or legal guardian at the event. Runners under 14 are not allowed to participate even with parental consent.

Where do we park?

Don’t worry there will be signs directing you to the parking corral. There will be a $20 parking fee per car. to be paid in cash day of the event. Please bring a twenty bill with you!

What do I do when I arrive on the day of the Roughneck Stampede?

Visit our registration station for all your start up needs. Check your keys and required ID. Stretch out and prepare yourself for the most challenging fun you have ever had.

Can my friends and family come out to watch?

Absolutely!  Friends and family can hang out at the spectator’s corral and other designated areas, which includes great viewing areas to see parts of the course and some rockin’ music, beer, food and games! Spectators will be required to sign a waiver form in the registration area before accessing the grounds.

What if I register and then cannot make it to the day of the event?

Your registration fee and donations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Will photos from the race be available?

Yes. Photographers will be at the race capturing all the fun for the day. Photos will be available for FREE after the race from our Facebook page.

Are there distance markers on the course?

There will be no distance markers on the course. However, there will be a water station at the 2km mark and the 4km mark.

Can I view the course ahead of time?

There will be no pre-race viewing. Besides that takes away from the thrill of speculating, when you’re Roughnecking, what the next challenge is going to be!

Do I have to know how to swim for the water obstacles?

Most water challenges will be set at a shallow pool level and swimming is not required.   Please note there are a couple of water challenges that require you to be able to swim and these are marked.  An alternate challenge will be offered should you want to skip going into the water or feel that your level of swimming skill is not sufficient to tackle the water challenge.

Who Can Patricipate?

Anyone who is 14 years old or older by the day of the event can participate. If you are under 18 your parent or legal guardian must attend with you and sign the waiver.

Do Participants Get Free Beer?

Yes. Participants of legal age will receive one free beer  upon completion. You must have the beer wristband you will receive when checking in at registration table.

Will the event be cancelled in there is bad weather?

We don’t cancel for rain. This is a MUD RUN and RAIN + DIRT=MUD! What do you think this is…. a tip toe through the tulips? If there is lightening, we wait until the storm passes. If there is severe weather that prevents us from Roughnecking on Saturday,  we will Roughneck on Sunday! Sorry….NO REFUNDS!

How do we punish cheaters?

This is a mud run where we have fun. If you are with a group -building team spirit. If running solo-getting the thrill and satisfaction of overcoming some challenging obstacles. If you want to cheat your team or yourself-thats your business, unless you are running in the Elite division!

What if I get sick or injured?

There will be paramedics and/or EMS personnel at the Mud Run.

Can I bring my own food and alcohol?

You are not allowed to bring your own food or alcohol on-site. We will have vendors on site for food, drink and other merchandise.

What is the minumum are to participate?

The minimum age is 14 years. If under 18 your parent or legal guardian must attend with you on the day of the event to sign the waiver.

What time does the event start?

The regular heats begin at 9:30 and  continue in “waves” every 20 minutes. Maximum of 75 participants for each wave start. When registering you will tell us what “wave” you want to run in. Please allow yourself 45 minutes to arrive prior to your wave start time. If you are late we will add you into the next wave that has less than 75 participants.

How long is the course?

The course is approximately 5 km (3.11 miles).

How many obstacles are on the course?

There are 25 obstacles on the course. You will go over some obstacles (cargo nets, climbers), go under some obstacles (fox holes, canopy) and others, you will go through (water, mud).

How far apart are the obstacles?

You can expect to run between 200m (656 ft) and 600m (1968 ft) per obstacle. We try to space the obstacles out fairly evenly.

Will there be a wash down station?

We do better than that. We provide a great shower cabin for semi-private wash down.
